As we enter our 12th year of operation we find great joy in looking back at all the wonderful comments our guests have posted on our web site.  Guests from around the Carolinas, the Southeast, the East Coast, even the Midwest and West Coast and as far away as Germany, England, Italy, and even Australia have enjoyed staying aboard Southern Comfort and a number of our other fine yachts.

Here are just a few of the many memorable comments:

Hello!

I am writing to let you know what an extraordinary experience we had staying aboard the beautiful Superior Lady. As you know my husband planned this entire weekend for me as a surprise for my birthday (tomorrow in fact). I had NO idea where he was taking me, and as we got closer, I figured out that the destination was lovely Charleston, a city I had never been too, and have always wanted to visit. Still, I had no idea that our lodging would be aboard a 54 foot yacht! Arriving late, on a dark and rainy night, I was a bit apprehensive…UNTIL we got to the yacht, and from that moment on, I was delighted, surprised, and pleased with everything about the experience.  All amenities, and needs were well met, and exceeded our expectations.  We truly hated to leave what we came to feel was “our boat”.

We also had the privilege of meeting the owner who came to see us on Saturday, and showed us a few things about the vessel that we had not figured out. There was a slight problem with the master bedroom head (holding tank full) but this was addressed quickly and thoroughly the next day. The Keurig (coffee) machine leaked upon occasion, but that is truly the only tiny note of less than perfect that we can think of! The bed was extremely comfortable, the linens soft, and the galley kitchen is equipped and set up to more than suit our needs and use.

We have already been promoting this adventure as a trip of a life time to several friends.

Our only regret is that we had to leave after too short of a stay.

Thank you for all of your support and allowing us to arrive and board so late on Thursday.

Have a great day..and hope to return soon!

We stayed on the Southern Comfort last weekend during the Charleston Food and Wine Festival and the boat more than exceeded our wildest expectations. The pictures above do not do it justice. There was more than amble room, the amenities were top class, the boat was spotless, and the owner was extremely accommodating and made the entire process super easy. The Marina is located just a few blocks from historic downtown Charleston making it very convenient. I would highly recommend the Southern Comfort for anyone planning a trip to Charleston! - Guys Golf Weekend

My wife and I had been married about 4 months, and we went down in January to get out of Charlotte for the weekend, the weather was a little cold, but the boat was so nice. We took advantage of the free taxi into town and went and walked around the shops. The boat was clean and a great spot to escape to. It was quiet and peaceful. We can't wait to get down there when the weather is warmer next time.  - Weekend Getaway

Chris could not have been a better host to our night aboard Southern Comfort. We started out with a short hop around the harbor while enjoying a beer. Chris chatted with us filling us in on some of the history around the area and injecting some of his personal humor into the stories. A great time!

He and Whit moored us back ashore (in a down pour) and left us to enjoy the boat for the rest of the night and next morning. Very comfortable (bigger than our house) yacht, AC kept us cool, the boat rocked us to sleep...fabulous.

My fiancé and I love Charleston and wanted to try something a little different. We booked the Southern Comfort for the weekend and absolutely loved every second of our stay.

Southern Comfort is well maintained by the owners and crew, and has lots of room. On the way to Charleston we were planning our weekend out on the town, but as we step aboard Southern Comfort we didn't want to go anywhere!

Friday night we hung out relaxed and watched the flat screen T.V. We had muffins and drank a glass of wine, which the crew left for us on arrival.

The owners are first class and very very kind! You will not be disappointed with any part of your visit on the Southern Comfort. We are looking into booking Southern Comfort for a trip to Hilton Head during the summer. A BIG thank you to Chris and Ellie! Until next time ;).

Thursday through Monday. Just the two of us. Cozy with beautiful views of the sunrise and sunsets from topside. A home away from home. Breakfast goodies each morning and a wonderful chardonnay to welcome us when we arrived. Chris and Ellie very attentive to our specific needs. Big enough to bring friends but works even better when wanting a little romance.

We have stayed on Southern Comfort a couple times and absolutely feel that it is much better than staying in any hotel. You get everything you need and then some! The peace and quiet of staying in your own little private get away is priceless! We can't wait to get back to Southern Comfort again. Chris, Ellie and the staff go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable.

The Southern Comfort was the perfect venue for a girls' weekend away. On the evening we arrived all we wanted to do was chill on the sundeck and watch the sunset- we were in no hurry to explore the rest of Charleston.
The boat is so big that having enough space for eight girls and all their stuff was never an issue.
We particularly loved that we could connect our iPods to the stereo and hear the music play through the speakers in every room, including the sundeck.
The diverse array of snacks and drinks provided by the crew lasted us all three days. All eight of us agree that we will definitely book the Southern Comfort again in the future.

I surprised my boyfriend with a stay on this yacht!

He was a great sport and wore a blindfold all the way to the boat...the "reveal" was worth the whole trip!

It is an amazing and huge boat!

The owners made sure it was stocked with all sorts of breakfast goodies, along with wine, fresh flowers, and even cheesecake. We loved sitting out on the deck, watching the other "yachties" and just relaxing at breakfast in the large "salon" (fancy talk for "living room"!)...with a view of the harbor.

It was just a treat...one we'll never forget!

This is our second trip on the Southern Comfort and will do it again as soon as we can. Very relaxing and the owners are very accommodating.

What a fabulous weekend!

I had very high expectations for our girls' weekend in Charleston, but this was above and beyond any expectations I ever had going into the weekend. We had outstanding service, fabulous food, and this yacht is incredible!!!

I would also recommend the charter trip - it was the perfect added bonus to the weekend. This is definitely on my "To Do...Again List". Thank you to Chris and the staff for making this such a fun and memorable weekend for all of us!

We had such a wonderful time on the beautiful boat Southern Comfort!

This was our second time on the boat and I'm sure it wont be our last. Spending the evenings on the top of the boat were beautiful. The kitchen is nicely equiped with food and drinks. The main stateroom is such a nice size and has a very comfortable bed.

Thanks again!!!

My family was coming down from NY, and I really wanted to show them a great time. Staying on Southern Comfort made their whole trip!! They were so impressed with the interior of the boat that they have been bragging for months!!

Guest Comment on August 12, 2008

The yacht was fabulous!

It was wonderful having all the amenities of your home aboard a floating vessel and what a unique way to stay while in Charleston! One of the (Guest) staterooms was the size of a jail cell, so if you are ok with sleeping in closed quarters, you will be ok.

The master was very roomy (but) the 2nd stateroom was quite small as well. Overall, it was quite impressive.

Note From Southern Comfort: It's a boat! But this is one of our favorite comments!

Last September I surprised my husband with a stay on this wonderful yacht and it was an amazing experience. Chris and his crew had everything perfect for our romantic night from flowers and wine to great ideas for dinner in town.

I Love this Yacht!

My husband and I got engaged on this boat four years ago, and we go back every year. The boat is gorgeous, and we enjoy our top deck-- and always grill out. We now take our son on the boat-- although this is the second year he'll be with us! I highly recommend this to anyone wishing a romantic weekend!

Guest Comment from March 19, 2008

From start to finish the experience was far greater than I ever imagined!

Chris and Ellie are down to earth, good hearted people who make you feel right at home on the yacht, you could not ask for better hosts! My wife and I chose to elope so it was just the two of us and C & E went over and above their responsibilities to make our wedding a very special one. We will have beautiful memories and pictures to last us our lifetime. I strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to get married , Re-do their vows or just take a romantic get away trip together!

Outstanding!

We really enjoyed our stay on The Southern Comfort. We spent the entire weekend just enjoying the boat, the marina and relaxing on the top deck. We will be back! Thank you for sharing The Southern Comfort and making it possible for us to have the chance to stay on yacht! The value is excellent. For about the same price as any Charleston hotel, you get so much more.

We had a great time Watching Fireworks on the bridge of Southern Comfort, calling our family and friend on new year's day bragging about wintering on our YACHT!

This has been such a wonderful experience – We can’t wait to come back. Of course the highlight was the proposal – but this whole trip has been so fun and relaxing…. I’ll never forget this.  - Becky

To quote Ferris Bueller “…. and I must say, it is so choice. If you ever have the means, I highly recommend it.” -David

Note from Southern Comfort: David and Becky became engaged July 16, 2005 aboard Southern Comfort in Savannah, GA. Best wishes to the future bride and groom.

Our stay on the Southern Comfort was absolutely fabulous!

The accommodations were above and beyond our expectations. The privacy, romantic atmosphere and relaxation were very much needed and appreciated.

At first it was a bummer that one of the bicycles had been stolen; however, we had lots of fun on the one bicycle going through the streets of Charleston seeing the sights, having dinner and following the Ghost Tour. It's been a long time since I have ridden on the handlebars of a bicycle, but oh did it bring back lots of memories. We felt very pampered during our stay.

Breakfast was great, and just being able to have breakfast on such a beautiful yacht at a great marina made us feel special. I want to go back. With all the hustle and bustle in our daily lives, it was like a fairy tale and was by far the best weekend getaway in a long time.

I will recommend you to all my friends and acquaintances. It was wonderful!

Note from Southern Comfort: We have since replaced the stolen bicycle.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Southern Comfort for one day. (However, I have taken many "mini vacations" in my mind since that day, as I sit at work, close my eyes, and remember sitting on the deck with my wine.) The marina is an absolutely beautiful backdrop to this stunning boat. Pictures do no justice to how gorgeous (and huge) this boat is. As soon as you get on board, it is impossible to stress about anything.

Beware, because in one afternoon, you may become convinced (as I did) that you should quit your career, leave the office and live on a boat. It's the life! The warm breeze blows and you can sit and just watch the water and the other boats for hours. Stress just melts away. Bring a book and some wine and you will be in heaven!

They have thought of every little touch possible to make guests comfortable. The bedrooms are big, bright, and beautiful. The kitchen is very well equipped (but you won't want to use it, as you can enjoy a nice walk to beautiful Charleston for great restaurants.) I highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Husbands, your wife will never forget a surprise weekend on the boat! And I cannot imagine a better place I would want to stay for a "girl's weekend". Thanks, for my stay on my favorite new destination!

We stayed aboard the Southern Comfort this past weekend. It was wonderful!

They go out of their way to make sure every detail is taken care of to make our stay perfect. We had all the comforts of home and then some. I'd highly recommend the Southern Comfort to anyone who wants a relaxing and romantic weekend in Charleston! We will definitely be coming back! Thank you so much.

What a beautiful and tranquil way to spend our 15th anniversary.

Southern Comfort was such a different and completely enjoyable way to spend a night in Charleston and one I won't soon forget. The yacht is tastefully decorated with such attention to detail. The weather was perfect and we managed to see the sunset off the aft deck and the sunrise from the pilothouse. We have lived in this area for 15 years and will highly recommend this B&B.

We spent two nights on Southern Comfort April 21-22. I had spent one previous night at The Inn at Middleton Place and 3 nights at Charleston Place, perhaps two of the nicest accommodations one could hope for in Charleston. Southern Comfort was better than either of the above.

The boat is beautifully decorated and meticulously maintained with comfortable furniture and beds, spacious surroundings, and a fully equipped full-sized kitchen (galley in boat speak) in which one could easily prepare a gourmet meal. I was not sure about the "breakfast" part but to insure privacy the owners had supplied the fridge with help-yourself OJ, milk, half and half, butter, mayo, mustard, bottled water, cream cheese and frozen sausage and biscuits. In addition there were bagels, muffins, assorted cereals, coffee and tea.

The owners had even left a complimentary bottle of Chardonnay...nice touch.

The marina scenery is spectacular (if you love water and boats) and the amenities are that of a five star hotel. It was the highlight of our week long visit to Charleston and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do something a little different but still have all the creature comforts of home. I surprised my husband with Southern Comfort and he had a grin on his face for two hours after we arrived.

We found it difficult to leave the boat for sightseeing as we wanted to spend as much time as possible just relaxing and enjoying the views, especially from the top deck. We are anxiously anticipating a return visit as soon as possible.

IT IS EXCELLENT!!

Staying on the Southern Comfort was a awesome vacation. The yacht was spectacular!!

We really enjoyed our river cruise. The Captain and Innkeepers were wonderful. My husband and I both agree that this vacation was one of our most memorable. We will definitely stay on the Southern Comfort again.

Guest Comment from January 21, 2005

Far exceeded my expectations.

This is a true bed and breakfast with all of the comforts from home at sea!

The operators were warm and left no stone unturned. The photos can not truly depict the wonderful time you will have on the Southern Comfort.

Wow!

From the moment we walked aboard, we were totally pampered. We plan to stay again as soon as we can! It was an experience unlike any other. We had all the amenities of a bed and breakfast with the privacy of a chartered yacht.

Lovely!

We wanted to write you a letter to express our gratitude for all of your hard work, talent and expertise while conducting our wedding ceremony and reception. We were very pleased and pleasantly surprised with how well the events of the day progressed.

We received huge compliments from our guests remarking about the flawless execution of the day’s events. You did a fabulous job with the ceremony with a unique talent of making both of us feel very comfortable as you coached us through our parts. The caterers prepared a scrumptious meal while maintaining perfect timing without ever being seen.

The staff was in the exact right place at the exact right time throughout the day making sure that all the details were attended to allowing the day to flow better than we ever expected. We were very pleased with the professionalism in creating the photos.

We are anxiously waiting to see how they turned out. The Captain gave us some great backdrops to allow for special pictures. The special touches of the wedding were very special. The wedding cake, the pink bows, the pink tablecloths, and the flower arrangements made the event perfect. The Southern Comfort is a fabulous yacht and we (and our on-board guests) enjoyed the lavish accommodations almost as much as we enjoyed the ceremony.

We look forward to spending time aboard her again in the future. In closing, we want to thank you for making our already special day even more extraordinary. Your team of very professional people allowed this day to exceed our greatest expectations.

Thanks for your every effort.

Dave and Trish from September 30, 2004

I was meaning to write you and tell you what a GREAT TIME Trish and I had on your boat.  We'd like to use it as our "default" place to stay whenever we go to Charleston.

The only suggestion I can offer is that there was some confusion regarding the parking. The first night we were charged for parking.  When we questioned the parking attendant, she suggested that we speak with the dock master.  The dock master was very helpful and he wrote us a parking pass for the remainder of the stay.

We didn't know if parking was included or not. We have already recommended you to many of our friends and will continue to do so!
